We’ve updated our road, gravel and touring cycling routing to avoid overly steep climbs that are unsuitable for most bikes. Now, when going uphill on all but a mountain bike, komoot will no longer shortcut your climb over less suitable surfaces. In the past, for example, komoot may have opted for a steep hiking trail to shortcut a series of hairpin bends. Now, thanks to this update, you’ll stick to the most suitable version of the climb possible — so you can better enjoy the suffer-fest. Fan of climbs? Don’t worry, this does not mean that you’ll get fewer climbs on your route! You’ll still be routed up as many hills as before — we’ll just make sure your climbs are rideable on your bike type before we add them to your route.
