Stay safe on the trail - with brand new Highlight and Tour warnings

So you always know ahead of time if a Tour or Highlight includes any dangerous sections, we’ve added brand new warnings to our Android and iOS app and to Planning a hike along a knife-edged arete or set to ride down a route-ridden trail suitable for experienced mountain bikers only? Komoot will let you know when advanced experience or equipment may be required on a route — so you can focus on confidently exploring the great outdoors.

To make this information instantly understandable, the new warnings come in two types:

  • The first is shown on sections that we think pose a reasonable danger, and is displayed alongside a yellow warning label. For these sections, you may need additional safety equipment, a head for heights and previous experience on similar terrain.
  • The second is shown on sections we consider highly dangerous. These sections are clearly displayed with an unmissable red icon. These parts of Tours/Highlights pose a real risk to life and should be treated with the utmost respect. Excellent terrain assessment and navigation skills are absolutely essential, as are technical safety equipment and professional risk management planning.
