Bring the map to life with Trail View photos

Trail View brings the lines on the map to life with user-sourced photos of the trail curated by an advanced image-detection algorithm. Showing up as green dots on the new Trail View map layer on komoot.com, these images give hikers, gravel cyclists and mtb riders a visual on what that trail actually looks like, allowing you to plan more accurately for your adventures. Now you’ll be able to make better-informed decisions about whether a specific trail is suitable for your sport and/or experience level. Plus you and your friends on komoot will have an extra reason to get excited as you visualize what awaits you on your adventure.

We’ve made it easier to switch between maps when planning routes on komoot.com — and you can now see sport-specific details on the satellite map!

Use the komoot map to clearly see landscape details and contour lines, or switch to the satellite map to see just how green an area is you’re passing through. Whatever your reasons for wanting to switch the base map — it’s now easier than ever before with the new maps switcher available at komoot.com.

Oh, and for all Premium users, the komoot satellite map also displays sports-specific details.

Make inspiring multi-day routes your own with actionable Collections

You’ll find plenty of inspiration for multi-day  adventures on komoot but until recently daily stages were set, making it tricky to adjust route stages to your style of riding. Now you’ll find the full route saved in one compact Tour, at the top of many multi-day Collections. That makes it easy for you to copy, save, and ultimately edit the route into daily stages that sync with each other, and are just the right length for you.

The ‘Discover’ tab is now available worldwide 🌏

To inspire more people all over the world, we’ve rolled out the ‘Discover’ tab globally. Previously only available in parts of Central Europe and the UK, it means you can search komoot for Highlights, Collections and routes to explore, and see a roll call of the best adventures near you in the feed.

Not finding much content where you are? In many regions, we don’t have enough Highlights to deliver reliable recommendations yet. But you can change this: Add your own Highlights to komoot to increase the coverage in your area, and help others more easily explore the great outdoors near you.

Mountain bikers rejoice: We’ve made some significant improvements to our mtb routing!

After tons of testing and feedback from you — our community of passionate mountain bikers — we’ve made some significant improvements to our mtb routing. Now, when you plan a mountain bike ride, komoot will always favor the gnarly over the sensible; diverting you away from fire roads and onto funner, flowier singletrack — the type of stuff your bike was built for. These updates also cleverly take steepness, rideability and mountain bike experience into consideration to build routes that are even better for you and your bike. Oh, and finally, komoot will also now route you over official mtb trails where possible (even if that means making your route a little longer…), so you know you’re riding on the best route around.

🤘

You can now search for long-distance routes by name

Want to ride a specific route or finally do that multi-day thru-hike you swore you’d always do? Well, now you can search for long-distance routes on komoot, simply by typing in their name. Whether it be a popular long-distance trek like the West Highland Way or a multi-day bikepacking adventure like the Green Divide, all you need to do to find the content you need is search for the route name. We’ll then show you relevant Collections that cover your route — so you can start exploring them at the click of a button.
